Passionate Writer with an Enthusiastic Fan Base
Sandy Little grew up in the small town of Medford, Oregon. Her parents owned a restaurant and barbershop in the nearby historic town of Jacksonville. She spent her summers in the coastal town of Crescent City, Ca. not far from where she was born in Arcata.
Sandy’s grandmother was her elementary school teacher and taught her in the first grade. It was Sandy’s grandmother who introduced her to such favorite children’s stories as Thumbelina, The Three Little Pigs, and Little Red Riding Hood. Sandy spent time reading her books and playing in the raspberry patch and flower garden that her grandfather carefully cared for. And it is no doubt that this was the inspiration for Sandy’s first book Montgomery Rabbit.
"Montgomery Rabbit” is a children’s chapter Book and has won the Gold Medal in the Moon Beam Children’s Book Awards, the Silver medal at the Forward Review book awards, as well as The Bronze Medal at the Ippy Awards.
This captivating chapter book has received high praise from teachers, librarians, and reviewers. Sandy’s second book is “My Little Green Umbrella,” a 32-page picture book that is also enjoying five-star reviews and awards. This book from Outskirts Press is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Kindle, Target, and many online bookstores.
Sandy’s passion for children’s stories was deepened because of her involvement with the beloved Free Willy films. Sandy’s son Jason James Richter played the lead role of Jesse in the famous films, and Sandy managed Jason’s Hollywood career for many years.
Sandy is married to film director Dwight Little, and together they have one son Jackson Little. They also have a production company that has produced two recent films, “Last Rampage” and “Natty Knocks.”
Her latest book project include a charming, funny, children's book entitled "Ghost Writer." Also, a Young Adult romance that takes place in the past, entitled “Summer Lies and Blackberry Pies." This will be Sandy’s first novel.
Sandy Lives in southern California with her husband, three sons and her very cute pug Dexter.

The MCA evaluation process uses a propriety methodology in which entries are scored on a number of elements including production quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal, and cost.

To be considered for an award, each entrant submits five (5) identical samples for testing. Entries are matched to evaluators in the MCA database. The five evaluations are submitted to the MCA Executive Committee for final review and approval.
